In a world that rarely slows down, Seasonal Chapters creates space to pause. A series of spontaneous and personal conversations where place and dialogue become one — exploring the seasons around us and in our own lives, what grows, what shifts, and what we choose to let go of.
Every chapter begins outside. Meisje Willem meets her guests at one of their favourite outdoor places: somewhere with a memory, a feeling or simply a sense of belonging. The surroundings become part of the conversation, bringing stories to the surface that might have remained untold elsewhere. A familiar place can offer a different perspective, or simply the freedom to speak more openly.
On Amsterdam’s Amstelveld, Jetteke van Lexmond shares a deeply personal decision and the courage it takes to make it. Her story touches on motherhood, uncertainty and the difficulty of making choices when others are affected by them. In her garden, Do reflects on a different kind of tension: the desire to continue doing what she loves while protecting the time she has with her children. Both conversations reveal how even the most personal choices can carry questions many of us recognise.
Other encounters bring different perspectives. Katja Schuurman invites Marjon into her morning routine, beginning with a swim in the IJmeer. Away from the expectations of others, she reflects on the freedom of being completely herself. In her vegetable garden, Loes finds something similar through a quieter ritual. Surrounded by everything she has planted and nurtured, she talks about finding peace and learning to trust that things will be okay.

The conversations move naturally between subjects. Family, relationships, ambition, vulnerability and the choices that shape our lives. The natural season forms the setting, while each guest brings their own experiences and questions. Sometimes the place offers a way into a difficult subject. At other moments, it simply allows the conversation to unfold at its own pace.
There is something meaningful in listening to someone who is still figuring things out. A decision doesn’t always come with certainty, and an experience doesn’t need to become advice to be valuable. The most interesting moments are often found in the space between a question and an answer, when someone begins to understand their own thoughts a little better.
Together with Meisje Willem, we created Seasonal Chapters from a shared appreciation for these kinds of conversations. Six episodes form each season, recorded in the guests’ favourite outdoor places and captured in audio and video. Different people, places and perspectives come together, connected by the curiosity to understand what moves us and how we navigate change.
At its heart, Seasonal Chapters is an invitation to listen to someone else’s story, recognise something of your own, and perhaps look a little differently at what is changing around you — or within you.
